Yatra by Helicopter Mount Kailash & Manasarovar - 2012 |
In the far west of Tibet is Mt Kailash or Kang Rinpoche, the most sacred
mountain in Asia venerated by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and the ancient Bon Po
religion of Tibet and is considered the centre of the universe & the most holy
place in the world for both Hindus and Buddhists. For many centuries Tibetan and
Indian pilgrims have been making the 53km circuit or kora, of the mountain which
supposedly wipes the sins of a lifetime, enticement enough. This
circumambulation is clockwise for Buddhists and Hindus and anti-clockwise for
bon followers.

Itinerary in Details |
DAY 01 |
Arrival to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel. O/N hotel |
DAY 02 |
Early morning drive to Pashupatinath temple ( POOJA ).
This day, we get your Visa processed. O/N hotel. |
DAY 03 |
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to airport for your
flight to Nepalgunj. On arrival transfer to hotel and
rest. O/N hotel |
DAY 04 |
Early morning transfer to airport for chartered
helicopter or flight to simkot for immigration
formalities & Proceed to Hilsa by chartered helicopter
flight. After arrival at Hilsa, we set out for Sera, a
short hike of approximately 1-km to the Tibetan border
where our land cruisers will be waiting.
After brief introductions with our Tibetan guide, we
will drive for Taklakot [known to Chinese as Purang] and
on arrival transfer to guesthouse and rest. O/N guest
house |
DAY 05 |
Visit Khojarnath temple, the ancient temple of Ram, Sita
and Laxman. Rests of the day at leisure and for
acclimatization. Overnight |
DAY 06 |
Early morning drive to Lake Manasarovar (Chui Gompa
side). After having holy dip and lunch, we set off for
circumambulation around the lake by jeep. Overnight. |
DAY 07 |
Morning Pooja and Snan (holy dip) after that we proceed
for Dharchen (Mount Kailash base camp). Overnight. |
DAY 08 |
Morning, drive to Tarboche (Or Serson) then start
Parikrama (trekking circumambulation of Kailash) to
Deraphuk Gompa. Overnight. |
DAY 09 |
Continue Parikrama to Zutulphuk Gompa via Dolma-La and
Gaurikunda. This is the toughest day of the tour!
Overnight. |
DAY 10 |
End Parikrama near Darchen [14 kms 3-4 hrs]. Drive to
Taklakot. Overnight. |
DAY 11 |
Early morning drive to Sera via Khojarnath Temple [an
ancient Temple of Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita]. From
Sherpa, we walk back to the Hilsa helipad to wait for
our flight back to Simkot. After immigration, proceed
for Nepalgunj by chartered helicopter or aircraft [fixed
wing]. Arrive Nepalgunj & further proceed to Kathmandu
by flight [fixed wing]. Overnight at Kathmandu |
DAY 12 |
At an appointed time, transfer to airport for flight to
your home country |
