Khayar Trek

 Trek Facts

Type of trek: Camping Trek
Trekking grade: Moderate
Best season: Mar-May, Sep-Nov
Duration: 15 Days

This is one of the most exotic & interesting trek in Nepal. Khayar, the heart of Annapurna region that has a power of magnetic attraction against trekkers still remains secret of the secrets for the trekkers though the Annapurna region is most frequented by trekkers. The secluded place hidden behind the massive of Annapurna ranges is one of the most speculative vantage points of the region. The panoramic views it offers are beyond the expression of ones’ words. The majestic Daulagiri, 8,167m which is the seventh highest mountain of the world, Nilgiri, Tukuche peak, Annapurna south, Himchuli, Fish-tail, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna IV, III, Dampus Peak, Mana Pathi Peak, Annapurna Fang, all stand up in line shrouded in the everlasting snow. The pattern of undulating ridges laid beyond the touching distance is sort of miracles. Particularly during the spring season the place promises to enrich your spirit by the glow of various flowers found only in this region. The trail to this track is mainly dominant by the rhododendron, which blooms in spring.

Another attraction for the trekkers to visit this place is the open arms of locales and their strong believes on colorful cultural traditions. In every year there holds two big festivals. All the locales gather together on the top of the ridge once in the month of March-April and another in the month of July-August. The ritual follows as per the tradition. In the first case the locales slain Yak and drink the blood while it is hot as they believe it’s the perfect treatment for any kind of illness. On the later occasion, during the day of sacred-thread replacement, people believe that they will receive everything they pray for. Especially the married barren women came to ask for the fertility of their wombs.
